Who is Ugly Hat Studio?

Founded in 2015, Ugly Hat Studio is a graphic design company offering various design solutions ranging from branding, website design and development to digital media and printed materials. My goal is to utilize meaningful design to empower connections and elevate experiences between businesses and their people. 

I was formally trained with a BFA in graphic design from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, MA. After 10+ years in creating print, web and interactive designs, for various companies over New England, I decided to venture off on my own to offer my skills to the types of clients I was most interested in working with. I’m currently located in Eliot, Maine.

Why Me?

Well for starters, I’ve created a startup from the bottom up. You’re looking at it. Designing my branding, developing my website, creating my content; this is what I do. And what sets me apart from my competition is that I bring a unique, experienced aesthetic to design at reasonable costs without overcomplicating the process. I don’t require a lot of time-wasting meetings or phone calls to present my solutions since the majority of the viewers will have a similar experience; the designs should speak for themselves. My company is small enough that your emails are answered the same day but my abilities reflect the work of more reputable design companies, without the price tag or overwhelming services you don’t need. After all, that’s who I used to work for and I’m not interested in that bloated process; you have better things to do with your time, right? Me too. 

Lastly, I honestly just enjoy helping people grow and learn.

I have a good sense of humor so I hope you do too. I pour my design soul into my work so I don’t like to push out one and done websites as it’s important to manage updates, backups and security regularly, to keep things working smoothly. We’re learning from each other; no task is to small; no question is too silly. No matter how big or small the steps in your goals are, we’ll get there together when you’re ready. It’s extremely important for me to understand the value of your business and goals. It’s equally important for my clients to understand the value of my guidance.
